Community Alert – Theft of Vehicle Registration Plates

Between 27/09 1215hrs and 28/09 0230hrs an unknown suspect approached a vehicle that had been left locked and secure and removed both the front and rear registration plates.

The suspect then made off with the stolen plates in an unknown direction and was not seen.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area, or who may have CCTV, doorbell camera, or dashcam footage that could assist enquiries, to come forward.

Crime Prevention Advice

Stolen registration plates are often used in further criminal activity. To help protect your vehicle:

Check your registration plates regularly to ensure they are secure.

Consider fitting anti-theft or tamper-resistant screws to your number plates.

Park in well-lit areas or locations covered by CCTV whenever possible.

If you have a driveway, consider installing security lighting or a CCTV system.

Report any suspicious people seen taking an interest in parked vehicles.

If your registration plates are stolen, report it to the police immediately and notify the DVLA.
